Leicestershire Airguns Shop Review

Over the past few years I have written reviews for Airgunner magazine on all subjects connected to air guns and the sport in general. I first met Phil Savidge and his family at our shooting club and have since become close friends. As a result Phil has asked me to write some reviews for his growing web site www.leicestershire-airguns.co.uk.

It would only be correct to give you a little history and background into his business and of course the all - important shop review. Phil started trading back in 1999 but things were not helped when a change in the law on how airguns could be sold or purchased came into effect. Face to face with no internet gun sales allowed meant a new approach had to be adopted. He soldiered on and in 2011 opened a small outlet in Melton on a Tuesday and Sunday. Trade increased and it was soon obvious the business was outgrowing the premises, so in September 2016 with a divided trade between Melton and Leicester, Leicestershire Airguns found a new home at Unit 3, Queniborough Industrial Estate, 1487 Melton Road, Leicester LE7 3FP, (we have now moved again to a bigger shop at Unit 2).

On entering the shop the first surprise is a fully stocked Airsoft store run by Phil's son under the guise Leicestershire Airsoft, wander to the rear and you will receive a warm and friendly welcome from Phil and his servant (in RFD terms only), Tracey, better known as the boss!

The shop has a fantastic range of new guns but boasts the largest selection of used air guns in Leicester, there is something for everyone whatever your budget; whether plinking, target shooter or hunter and a vast selection of sundries including targets, pellets, gunbags - in fact if there is an accessory for airgun shooters not in the shop Phil and the team will do their best to fulfil all your needs.

Since opening the shop the business as a whole has expanded quicker than Phil could have ever imagined. I put this down to his passion for air gunning , a competitive pricing structure, the support of his wife Tracey, sponsoring his local clubs and the warm and friendly welcome you receive when you visit the shop. To conclude he has the support of a local gunsmith for service and repair. Cash and card are accepted with credit available (terms and conditions apply). The shop is open on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Friday being late opening until 6pm, (now Thurs/Fri/Sat 10 until 5).

Whether a beginner, collector or enthusiast take my advice, pay the shop a visit and "Phil your boots".
